The History of Hawkins Habitat for Humanity
Hawkins Habitat for Humanity, an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International began February 17, 1992.
At that time, concerned citizens and business leaders in Hawkins County, including Jeff Campbell, Maurice DeWitte, Don Freeman, David Hale, Karen Halstead, Marge Lockhart, Doc McConnell, Steven Nelson, Ann Newton,
Jim Point, Eileen Queenor, and Rick Witowski agreed on this position of faith; "That all of God's people should have a decent affordable place in which to live."
Since that time Hawkins Habitat has constructed 45 homers for low-income families in Hawkins and Hancock counties. Hawkins Habitat has also completed numerous critical home repairs.
